Description

The Senior Safety Co-ordinator will assist the Safety Advisor with the ongoing development and implementation of the Health and Safety Management System within Waterways Ireland. KEY FUNCTIONS. To assist the Safety Advisor in the following areas of Health and Safety: • Policy development. • Risk assessment and management. • Promotion of Health, Safety and Welfare. • Staff inductions. • Health and Safety Training. • Health and Safety audits & inspections. • Accident reporting. • Investigations into accidents / incidents. • Statistical reporting. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. • To assist the Safety Advisor in the development, dissemination and implementation of Health and Safety policies and procedures. • To assist the Safety Advisor in maintaining the Health and Safety Management system, as well as the internal and external verification of the system as required. • To identify training needs to Safety Advisor in a timely manner to facilitate training plans. • To organise all safety training in association with Human Resources, including accredited, non accredited and online to meet the organisation's training needs. • To prepare and deliver Health & Safety training as appropriate. • To ensure that Health and Safety training records are effectively and efficiently maintained on Waterways Ireland's HR training database (CORE. • To collate and maintain Health and Safety literature and disseminate as required within the organisation. • To organise the delivery of Safety Promotional Activities within the organisation, in collaboration with Marketing and Communications, and report on their effectiveness. • To assist the Safety Advisor in Health and Safety audit processes. • To assist the Safety Advisor in the review of Risk Assessments, Standard Operating Procedures, Health and Safety plans and programmes. • To review compliance with statutory requirements in relation to accident reporting and inspections and to maintain all associated records and provide reports. • To liaise with statutory authorities including HSE (NI) and HSA (Ireland. • To research and report on Health and Safety issues to the Safety Advisor and Senior Management Team as required. • To contribute Health and Safety related content for the organisation's quarterly staff newsletter.
